Wine and Grapes Seder Plate
Product Description
Grapes of the vine and the four cups of wine run the inside border of this seder plate for Passover. We drink four cups of wine during the Passover seder. The Kiddush is recited over the first cup. The Exodus story from Haggadah is read over the second cup. The Grace After Meals is recited over the third cup. We sing the "big Hallel" - Psalms and hymns of praises to God, over the fourth cup of wine.
Each piece of glass has been hand cut, ground to the pattern, wrapped in copper and soldered to form the seder plate. The graphic of the grapes and cups of wine has been sandblasted to a mirror to reflect the light and enhance the design.
The Four Cups of Wine seder plate had six separate sections for special foods central to the seder ceremony - shank bone, roasted egg, horseradish, haroset, parsley and bitter herbs.
A few explanations are are follows: The bitter herbs (maror) symbolizes the bitterness of being a slave in Egypt. The haroset (nuts, fruit, and wine) is the mortar made by the Hebrew slaves. The shank bone represents the lamb that was the sacrifice on the eve of the Exodus.
The beveled glass with the hebrew an english has been engraved. Each section of stained glass has been hand cut, wrapped in copper and solder to form the shape of the seder plate.
